Quartzsite, AZ to Salome, AZ
I left my wonderful quarters on the Yacht, had som breakfast, and headed east from Quartzsite to Salome. It would have been a very easy day. Had it not been for the headwind from the east. That sure slowed me down, who l the climbing looks arduously us, it was only 1-2% grades, but for miles and miles.
Eric and I in front of the Yacht where we slept last night.
We saw a lot of buildings like this along highway 60. Sad state of affairs!
Passing through Hope, we stopped at a gas station mini-mart. I guzzled tw containers of Gatorade, and filled my water bottles with ice water. We only had 6 more miles to go, but the previous 15 miles were quite difficult, against the headwind.
We put our bikes on the ground at the "Beyond Hope" sign. The look kind of sad, laying on the ground like that! My bike is in the foreground.
Our accommodations for tonight, at Scheffler's Motel. Better than sleeping on the ground, but I would never choose to stay at a place like this. The pool was green, and the rooms/bu ldings are in dire need of maintenance. Actually, the place needs a total makeover!
